Returning for the second year, with new music to share, is the violin/cello powerhouse duo of Robert Uchida and Rafael Hoekman in a limited-seat concert in iconic Old Town Yellowknife.
“Celebrate the versatility and warmth of classical strings with an intimate concert by two principal string players of the Edmonton Symphony Orchestra. Concertmaster Robert Uchida has been applauded for his “ravishing sound, eloquence and hypnotic intensity” by Strings Magazine, while Rafael Hoekman is lauded as a ”rock star of the cello.” Their crowd-pleasing program journeys from traditional favorites through to brilliant contemporary selections inspired by world and folk music, and concludes with a Maritime medley sure to set toes tapping.”
After their 2022 sold-out show, these two master players are thrilled to be returning to the intimate log-cabin Sundog Trading Post café, with the added enticement of a ticket price that includes an assortment of delicious appetizers from the Sundog chefs! Bar service open for purchase – and it’s still an all-ages show.
Audience reviews from their 2022 concert raved about the intimate feel being so close to the performers, seeing their facial expressions and interactions, and the powerful musical choices. Music on the program will range from some of the most widely-performed works for string duos from past centuries, as well as gorgeous and passionate music by Canadian composers + arrangers.
